Good Morning Weekenders

Leshar pleased you had a good day at the Highland games.

DD I hope your headache passed and you felt better when you went to work.

Hi Peke

Been for a walk with Alfie pup. Back to trousers and a long sleeved top. More like February than June. Roll on summer.

I watched some of the football yesterday. England played Serbia. The news says a lot of people will be calling in sick at work today as 30 million pints were drunk. Glad that’s not me anymore.

Sending more love to Least. xx

Have a good sober day Weekenders. Shout out if you’re struggling.

Love to all xxxx

Went to MD for Father's day which also happened to be my birthday.
Also 4.5 years of no alcohol to the day.

Anyway it's at my sister's house and is Always a Huge drinking event. This year was a bit milder but still there were a number of "overachievers" around.

There were a few times drinks were being offered around and more than once when they headed our, my wife and I, way, my sister or someone would tell the offerer "they don't drink".
To which the offerer would just turn to the next person.

After a while being a non drinker will just be who you are.
It feels good.
It feels really good today. I know more than a few who probably don't feel good today. Yuk

One more thing and I will stop hogging the thread.🙂

When we first got there, we were one of the first there, there was an awesome vibe. One I normally don't get when we go there but we normally aren't the first there so maybe that was it.
Folks were showing up, greetings exchanged and food being spread. You, at least I, could feel the love and warmth in the house.
Alcohol never crossed my mind other than watching a few folks setting a pace.

After a few hours the vibe changed.
I watched my nephews wife downing mini liquor bottles chasing with beer. Had a drunk question me about his wallet mistaking my full size dark chevy grey truck for a small light grey Toyota truck.
Folks getting loud and the music going from easy family friendly to trashy, f word filled garbage.

Hard to not see alcohol is poison. Always ruins a good vibe.

BTW I am sure I had Much more fun than any drunk there.

Alcoholics ruin the vibe, that's for sure.

Of all of the BIG parties I went to at my sister's over the years, there were only two people who ever created a problem: me and the lady who lived across the road, who was also an alcoholic.

Happy Birthday, dearest fish!! ❤️💗🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤍

Guilty here also.
I've gone off the rails a few times there.
One of the reasons I gave it up was a couple of black out drunks I had there that didn't end well.

Thank you

Thanks Leshar, Mags and CK

You weren’t hogging the thread FK. What you wrote was compelling and I’m so grateful that you shared it with us.
….yes! Ppl getting loud and profanities left and right are a sure sign of a bunch of ppl drinking.
Happy belated birthday to you. I admire you. Congratulations on 4.5 years. 😊

My legs are aching after my long trail run/golf/weigh lifting yesterday. Sober living means being in maybe some of the best shape of my life. Have a good week everyone.
PSHoping that Least’s colonoscopy is early this morning so that she can get her results by the end of the day. I keep thinking about her and I’m very concerned.

FK, Happy Belated Birthday!

Hi Mags, hope all is well with you and your lovely family.
Sending more prayers to Least. Thinking of you love.
Glad for my sobriety. It's been a while and I am so glad to not have those hazy, sick, terrible mornings anymore. My sobriety is such a gift.
Have a wonderful day all.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY for yesterday Fishkillerand well done on reaching 4.5 years too. Watching other people as the get more intoxicated makes the idea of having a drink yourself less attractive.

Bit annoying that one of the few sunny days we've had this year is on a Monday.

Watched he England football match too Mags. Their opponents were a tough team to beat as it looked to me.

Heat dome in more than one spot here in the States. Texas 108f/42c and New York up to 32c with unlimited sunshine. Temp here is 22c with a scorching sun above now. Summer is here. All good in Zen Land, no pressing problems to solve, plenty of projects to keep me at work daily, and you guys to help me stay on the sober path. To be content is a calming joy that runs through my day I love it.

When I first stopped I would be a bit uptight and I had a few rehearsed answers. Now I simply tell them I don’t drink. No one really questions anymore.

Happy belated, Fish!

Glad you were still able to have a good time, despite those making it uncomfortable.

I might have to write these on an index card for my wallet:

First reply: "No, thank you."
Second reply: "It is kind of noisy. Perhaps you didn't hear me?"
Third reply: "How dare you."
