Hey ZC
I wasn't trying to make a point - I can be as judgmental as anyone else, but not knowing either of the parties I'm best at sticking with the facts where I can?
I think you're doing well. You had a tough week with the loss of your sister.
Its ok to cut yourself some slack, too

Thank you for all you do with what you have. You are people like me just trying to get along in life the best we can. We are just humans.

Thank you; Off, Five VGF
I'm hanging in there ODAAT style and drinking/drug is not an option, ever. The obsession is gone and I will want to keep it that way.

Tropical Storm Hillary.
Here in Oxnard expecting winds of 30 - 40 mph, Rain total of about 2.5 +/- .5 inches. Heavy downpours at times cause street flooding locally. People in the mountains will be hit the hardest.
I have pictures Yea!
The Storm Path
Expected Wind
Current Satellite Picture
I'm prepared so bring it on mother

Hopefully no shake and roll today. There's constant talk about the "big one" here in CA. Like an 8.0+ quake that will last 5 minutes and cause hell on earth. So when there is even a small earth jostle my mind goes straight to the "big one" we are all going to die. A good reminder everything can change in an instant.

Zens Poetry Corner.
"Reheat the oven of love
With plenty of secrets and hugs.
Mix in giggles and laughs
That make your sides split in half.
Bake with the love and care
And all the things you both should share.
Decorate with the frosting of trust;
This is really a must.
Enjoy the cake; do not eat it fast.
Just like your new friendship, make it last."

5.1 Ojai. Pronounced: Oh Hi. That's a sizable jolt but mostly a shelf cleaner. Your shelf-displayed trinkets are jacked up by hitting the floor. Clean clear shelves tho .

What is the cause of addiction?
My government has spent untold millions on addiction cause and treatment research, some gathered from major universities and leaders in the field of addiction. I will not let MY Money go to waste. I paid for it (blood and sweat with years off my life) now I'm going to believe every single word and all the exclamation points goddammit!
NIH Biology of Addiction
Drugs and Alcohol Can Hijack Your Brain
“A common misperception is that addiction is a choice or moral problem, and all you have to do is stop. But nothing could be further from the truth,” says Dr. George Koob, director of NIH’s National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism."

Some quit alone. Over with it and done.
For the rest of us, it is a completely different story.
For me being open to support was the missing piece in my addiction puzzle. And boyo I was puzzled!

Hey Zen, I've been out and about and so haven't been posting much on SR. Being out and about is a good for my mental health.
Thanks for the reminder about gratitude. My family has two elders and a dog who are kind of circling the drain of life. Also a niece headed for a horrible divorce. However today I saw my teenage nephew in a mountain bike race, drove over a gorgeous mountain pass and spend the night with friends of 40 years. Life is such a conglomerate of good and bad.
Keep the faith you fine man.

Beki, being present in the moment sobre there is fun with nephew and the other crazy jazz that rounds out the whole experience of being alive. I will persist with dogged determination to face the junk in life and win. It is not the fight that matters it's the fight in me that does.

Oh man Zen. I am the Queen of slow. I'm big into 15, 10, 5 minute workouts or cleaning sprees.
I was thinking about what you said about addiction and mental health. So much has been learned in my lifetime which is really hopeful. Sadly so many conditions are still treatment resistant. I recently read The Body Keeps the Score. It chronicled, somewhat, the body of knowledge that has developed over the last 50 years. Boy oh boy do we have a long way to go.
I'm still on my up and out streak and getting lots of exercise. It leaves me exhausted but overall good.
Carry on you fine man.
