One Year (!!!!!!!!)
One year without a drop of alcohol. So much of my life and perspective has shifted in a year's time. I've:
I've come to treasure every one of these days, because I see how quickly the phases of life can change, and just how ephemeral this beautiful life really is.
Life still has its challenges, mostly on the health front (crohns is a hell of a challenge) but I'm totally focused on wellness, not counter-productive self medicating. I'm committed, and I'm entering year two in sobriety and health.
Sláinte, my friends.
- Entered remission from crohns disease (in large part due to infusions, but I truly believe abstaining from alcohol has helped).
- Become a better parent to my 3-year and 6-month old, and even better husband.
- Been more of a leader and innovator at my job.
- Finished my first semester of part-time grad school.
- Tackled several new hobbies and interests with zeal.
- I learned to forgive and find grace for the past version of myself, and embrace/understand my alcoholism free from shame or self-loathing (this was a big one).
