Meeting with probation officer went well. He's gonna call next week. Just need to not drink and I should be good.

I want to get drunk but it would probably ruin my life.

it might.

it might not.

but it definitely won't make your life better.

I'd skip it, if I were you.

Have you ever done a cold water immersion? It's a really potent reset. Has helped me shut down and reboot the thoughts of addictive desires.

It‘ll ruin your life Freedom.

Nothing unusual about having thoughts about drinking. Just don’t act on them.

Don’t ruin your life.

Good to hear.

Sobriety allows us to settle more easily than if we were drinking.

Can the damage caused by 16 years of heavy drinking be reversed ?
I started at 18 , i am now 34 ( will turn 35 in December ) , i exercise every day , try to eat as healthy as i can , keep a healthy weight ( even during my drinking years i was physically active ) but there is always that nagging voice in my head that is saying that the damage is already done. I know that is not true because i have very close family members who were heavy alcoholics and smokers their whole lives and died in their 80's , but how much damage can actually be undone ?
( i wanted to open a separate thread on this subject but for some reason the forum won't let me ).

SOBER DAY #129. So much more active and positive with sobriety, I still have a long way to in terms of attaining emotional sobriety. But I'm grateful today to be 129 days sober.

Wishing everyone a wonderful SOBER day!

try a one word title if your thread won’t post - you can always edit the title once it posts.

I drank ridiculously for most of 20 years Laza - stopped at 40.

I thought I might just drop down dead with the amount of drinking I did, but after all the tests my health, my organs were pretty good.

That’s continued, but a year ago I decided I needed to get more proactive with my health - I’d become very sedentary.
I’m the fittest I’ve been in my adult life now…that’s a far low bar to beat but I’ll take it.

So yes I do believe you can not only survive but thrive.

@LazaB In my experience the human body can take a huge amount of abuse and still bounce back.

LazaB - I think this is the AV trying to keep you drinking. For years I was convinced I was a dead man walking because like you, my drinking spanned 15+ years. This fueled my continued my drinking career because I thought quitting was pointless. I just got bloodwork done for the first time in ages and everything checked out fine. I couldn’t, and still can’t, believe it but it’s true. So, don’t fall into that AV mind trap. Just keep on the sober path and get to your doctor for a physical.

Day 99 for me. I’m grateful to be sober today. I’m looking forward to tomorrow as this has been a busy work week and I am ready for the weekend. But even though the week was super busy, I don’t feel overwhelmed. Quitting alcohol has made dealing with work stress so much more manageable.

I am committed to 24 more sober hours with you all. I won’t be picking up that first drink today. ODAAT

Have a great Thursday all

Thoughts are fleeting. Let them come, and let them go.

yep ^
To me the strength in recovery lies not so much in not having thoughts to drink...but in what we do in response to those thoughts/desires/cravings/triggers.
