Class of June 2024 Support Thread Part Two
it might.
it might not.
but it definitely won't make your life better.
I'd skip it, if I were you.
Have you ever done a cold water immersion? It's a really potent reset. Has helped me shut down and reboot the thoughts of addictive desires.

Can the damage caused by 16 years of heavy drinking be reversed ?
I started at 18 , i am now 34 ( will turn 35 in December ) , i exercise every day , try to eat as healthy as i can , keep a healthy weight ( even during my drinking years i was physically active ) but there is always that nagging voice in my head that is saying that the damage is already done. I know that is not true because i have very close family members who were heavy alcoholics and smokers their whole lives and died in their 80's , but how much damage can actually be undone ?
( i wanted to open a separate thread on this subject but for some reason the forum won't let me ).

SOBER DAY #129. So much more active and positive with sobriety, I still have a long way to in terms of attaining emotional sobriety. But I'm grateful today to be 129 days sober.
Wishing everyone a wonderful SOBER day!

I drank ridiculously for most of 20 years Laza - stopped at 40.
I thought I might just drop down dead with the amount of drinking I did, but after all the tests my health, my organs were pretty good.
That’s continued, but a year ago I decided I needed to get more proactive with my health - I’d become very sedentary.
I’m the fittest I’ve been in my adult life now…that’s a far low bar to beat but I’ll take it.
So yes I do believe you can not only survive but thrive.

try a one word title if your thread won’t post - you can always edit the title once it posts.

LazaB - I think this is the AV trying to keep you drinking. For years I was convinced I was a dead man walking because like you, my drinking spanned 15+ years. This fueled my continued my drinking career because I thought quitting was pointless. I just got bloodwork done for the first time in ages and everything checked out fine. I couldn’t, and still can’t, believe it but it’s true. So, don’t fall into that AV mind trap. Just keep on the sober path and get to your doctor for a physical.
Day 99 for me. I’m grateful to be sober today. I’m looking forward to tomorrow as this has been a busy work week and I am ready for the weekend. But even though the week was super busy, I don’t feel overwhelmed. Quitting alcohol has made dealing with work stress so much more manageable.
I am committed to 24 more sober hours with you all. I won’t be picking up that first drink today. ODAAT
Have a great Thursday all

Not quite four hours lapsed here.
Yes, drinking ruins lives,
