Day 70.

I do that too, CSC, listen to people who have gotten sober and stayed that way. Bradley Cooper is one who really resonates with me as in "if he can stay sober, i sure can." I'm sure in celebrity world there is free booze and temptation everywhere. Plus, he recognized it early and realized he couldn't be his best self if he kept drinking.

I'm always flabbergasted when I see Steve-O nowadays being this healthy looking bloke, lol.

CSC and Sam you're both doing so well! I feel that sticking here reminds me of my vulnerability and the need for constant vigilance. I feel for anyone in the public eye dealing with addiction, too many succumb to it. It's good when those who battle it and overcome, speak out candidly.

Dee!

Thanks Toots. Coming here daily definitely helps me stay on track, one of the tools in my tool box.

Welcome.

Day 265, exactly 100 days afar from a year of sobriety. Time to duke this little piggy.

How exciting, CSC!

I can’t get into an exercise routine either…..I blame work but that could just be another excuse….

Anyway, well done everyone!

It's good, thanks for asking. I've settled into a 3 day a week at the gym schedule and I mix in hikes with the dog and short runs around that. IE--no running after leg day, etc.

It will change as my running increases ahead of the half marathon in October, but for now it's very doable.

On the flip side, my ice cream habit is out of control, It definitely got me through the first months of not drinking, but I've gained weight and so it's got to go.
I started not a diet as I hate that word, but a more thoughtful eating routine this week.

Interesting as I was out to lunch w a friend and I ordered a salad which she gave me crap for. Told me I was boring; it felt very similar to people getting on others for not drinking. Weird, right? It didn't bother me, but it definitely reminded me of the same scenario regarding booze and peer pressure.

I think I need a 'reset' I've been eating too much junk food and it is addictive. I think a couple of weeks of fresh food, nothing junky might help me. Must get plenty of fresh fruit and veg in. I'm away next week with some travelling, hotel stays and visiting going on so may not manage to help myself too much there!

hi :-)

didn't make to 6 months (a few days short) - the 'cold beer on a hot sunny day' thing got me (it is a powerful trigger)

I remember George Best (famous soccer player and chronic alcoholic) being interviewed on his death bed a few days before he died (he looked like shrivelled yellow frog) - the reporter said to him, "you had a liver transplant and was living happily with your family in your lovely home with decades of active life in front of you - what went wrong?" and George Best just said, "It was a hot sunny day and a cold beer sounded wonderful"

bit of a bad relapse this time - had a black out and got injured falling over and broke stuff (by accident and on purpose) and was mean to a neighbour - can't remember what I did so other stuff might come back to me ...

and then I got stuck on pretty high maintenance drinking (12 x 500ml cans of 5% alcohol beer a day - 30 units a day - just to take the edge off - not even drunk)

anyway - mustered up the will to quit again (it was miserable drinking - I hated everything)

I'm on day one and not looking forward to being strung-out over the next couple of weeks ...

it is ages since I managed to complete a year not drinking ... I need to dig deep and find out what is wrong with me

well done if you did another day :-)

I’m sorry you had to go through all that red but I’m glad you made it back again.
If you want help and support when you ‘dig deep’, you’ll find it here

hi :-)

day 2 - feel a bit hollow and have a tight throat (the usual symptoms of being strung out from an addiction)

had tinnitus for a while (hallucinationary buzzing sound in the ears) but thankfully it has stopped (binging and quitting drinking causes brain damage - apparently stop/starting causes much worse brain damage than continual heavy drinking, scientists have found)

no other problems yet ... but the worst is yet to come

anyway - well done if you did another day :-)
